El Museo del Barrio is one of the neighborhoods many art museums. It is special as it specifically pays attention to underrepresented artists of color sets. They have a number of pieces with some being over 800 years old.
The museum mainly holds pieces of Caribbean, Latino, and Latin American descent, but stretch over an array of different genres. Some genres of work in the 6,500-object permanent collection, such as 20th-century Nuyorican fine prints and contemporary art from New York-based Latino artists, are unique to the museum.
